About the artist
Nicole Assunta DiCamillo was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She recently graduated from the Fine Arts Program at St. John’s University, with a minor in Italian.
She began to pursue her passion as an artist at a young age, and has devoted countless hours to refining her technical skills. Her art is informed by her careful, attentive observance of the world around her. She often practices drawing and painting from life to capture the essence of her surroundings, translating the feeling of experiencing a unique moment in time.
Nicole is interested in the relationship and interconnectedness of living beings and their environment. From her city background, she has found that beauty can be found everywhere; even in unsuspecting places. However, she has also grown to become deeply moved by nature, which she views as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Trees, animals, flora, and natural landscapes are all present in her work.
Coming from an Italian American household, her culture is an important part of her identity. She has fostered this by pursuing studies in Rome, where she studied art and learned the Italian language. Ancestry and family are important and recurrent themes in her work.
Nicole’s goal is to share with viewers a deeper understanding of the world and to celebrate beauty, using her art as a medium to do so.
